Swear to god, true story

This actually happened.

Scene setting: a Brazilian restaurant, moderate in aspirations and ambiance, with a large fishtank in the wall full of oversized, colorful fish.

Apparently, unbeknownst to me, an air pump went out in said fish tank somewhere near the start of our dinner. This led to, in the middle of our dinner, a frenzied effort from the restaurant staff to re-oxygenate the tank before the aforementioned large, colorful fish, suffocated in clear view of our group and the various other diners.

They did not succeed.

And so, for roughly thirty minutes, we ate, drank, and watched as these fish suffocated, died, and were summarily scooped out of the tank. A veritable marine genocide occuring right before our eyes.
