Goings and Comings

I leave tomorrow for another international educational adventure, this time to the distant south rather than the far-flung east. Specifically, Brazil.

I’ll be doing the daily blog again, partly for a grade, but also partly because I found that I really enjoyed travel-blogging when I went to China. I’ve got this great repository of experiences and reflections on that trip that I find myself referring to every once in a while, and I hope to recapture the lightning in the metaphorical bottle next week.

Stay tuned.

On another note.

I am quite sad that, while in pursuit of my higher (warmer) education, I will be missing the wedding of two dear friends of mine. I am smack in the middle of the “go-to-four-weddings-a-year” phase of my life, but this one was to be a bit different.

vintage-lesbian-wedding1While most of the weddings I’ve attended have been between an old friend of mine and their spouse to be, this would have been the first wedding I attended for two friends that I shared an equal amount of history with. As such, there would have been none of the typical, “Who is this weirdo that my friend is marrying” awkwardness that comes with most of these affairs, simply an understanding of the marvelous and obvious complement these two have been for each other since the day I met them.

I wish you the loveliest of lovely days, as you deserve nothing less. You’ve both helped me feel at home in this fine building (and city) in a very short amount of time, and I honestly cannot think of two people who’s special day I will regret missing more. I thank you for, in no particular order, scotch, Buffy the Vampire slayer, Denny’s, Blackberry Messenger, and your mutual disgust for poor fusion.

Wish I was there. Truly.
