Tomorrow I leave for China, that far flung mysterious country of the synchronized Olympic dancing and drum-beating.

To my readers: I will try to post an occasional update on my travels, but I’m not sure if I will be able to blog there. Because, you know, the Communism.

To my wife: I love you and will miss you dearly. Enjoy your time alone with the doggies. I will try to call you as much as possible, but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to call that often. Because, you know, the Communism.

To the Lindenites (Robin and the twoladies particularly): Keep an eye on my lady. Stop by the house and point out pictures of me. Sit on the couch and play XBox at excessively loud volumes to remind her of me. Say hello to my dogs, but when you do, call Lulu “Monkey” and call Tully “Cow.”

To the people I work with: I would totally get in touch with you regarding all the urgent e-mails you are sending me, but I can’t. Mostly because of the Communism…but, to be fair, also because I just don’t want to.

Wish me luck. The last time I went to Asia, there was a coup and the military overthrew the Thai government. I swear I had nothing to do with it.

Coup 2

Mostly.

  1. We’ll be glad to keep an eye on Muffin for you. I can’t believe you will let us girls play with the Xbox. I’m assuming you have Dance Dance Revolution? How about Princess Peach?

Have a good time. Take LOTS of pictures. And try not to start any wars.

  2. Be safe. When you return, do not be surprised if Muffin has turned the joint into a spin studio. We will not be able to stop her.

  3. Hi there,

We’ve begun a new blog in an attempt to create one location where blogs by people who live in Hartford proper and write about Hartford are gathered.

We found you either because we read you, we found you through a google search, or you were linked to another blog that we read. We linked to you because we like your blog.

We’ve found that there are plenty of really good blogs out there devoted to Connecticut (or even Hartford) politics and news — but we couldn’t find any one place where you can find links to Hartford bloggers that blog about life in Hartford (among other things, obviously. No hard rules.)

Our plan is to link to and provide an RSS feed (when available) to blogs of people who are: residents of Hartford proper (none of that “and environs” stuff) and who write about life in Hartford (culture, events, art, news, politics, nonsense, observations, most anything goes) as part of their normal posting (it doesn’t have to be every day or every week). This week our write-up links to A Bird in the Hand, Ladies in Waiting, Live in Hartford, Mira Hartford, Real Hartford, The 40 Year Plan and Weekend Party Update.

We will, on a weekly basis, summarize and link to Hartford-specific topics written by the folks on our blogroll. We took a first stab at it today, so you can check it out and get a sense of what we’re looking to do.

If you have a longer post you would like posted in full, just let us know.

If you know of another blog that looks like one we’re looking for, we’d love to hear about it from you. This was just our first shot at it — we expect and hope the list will grow.

If you don’t want us linking to you, etc., feel free to tell us to buzz off. (But that will probably eliminate any shot you had at being invited to Thanksgiving it our place.)

  4. […] Lyrical Uncertainty was way out of town for the holiday — in China, he did, however, leave instructions for the care and feeding of his wife and dogs in his absence.  (We know it’s not about […]
